Anton Walkes Death Confirmed by Charlotte Football Club

Charlotte Football Club (MLS) confirmed on Thursday that English football player Anton Walkes has passed away at the age of 25. The club stated that Walkes died “following an accident in South Florida”.

Anton Walkes began his career at Tottenham Hotspur and then went on to play for Portsmouth and Atlanta United. He made one first-team appearance for Tottenham before going on loan to Atlanta and Portsmouth. He eventually signed a permanent deal with Portsmouth, where he made 35 league appearances in League One before moving back to Atlanta on a permanent deal.

The club’s owner, David Tepper, said in a statement: “Everyone at Tepper Sports & Entertainment is devastated by the tragic passing of Anton Walkes. He was a tremendous son, father, partner and team-mate whose joyous approach to life touched everyone he met.”

Sporting director, Zoran Krneta, added: “We are heartbroken from the loss of Anton Walkes, a truly incredible father, loving person, and outstanding human being. Anton embodied what it means to be a part of Charlotte Football Club and our entire community is grieving over this tragedy.”

The club has offered its full support to those affected by Walkes’ death during this period of mourning.

Who is Anton Walkes?

Anton Walkes was a professional football player who played as a defender and midfielder. He was born in London, England and began his career at Tottenham Hotspur. Walkes made one first-team appearance for the Premier League club before going on loan to other teams.

Walkes enjoyed loan spells at Atlanta United and Portsmouth. He eventually signed a permanent deal with Portsmouth, where he made 35 league appearances in League One before moving back to Atlanta on a permanent deal.

In 2021, Anton was signed by the Charlotte Football Club, a Major League Soccer (MLS) team, where he was expected to make a big impact on the field. Unfortunately, Anton passed away at the age of 25 following an accident in South Florida.
