Bill gates in a tweet praised India by saying it is great to see India’s leadership in scientific innovation. He wrote in the tweet, “It’s great to see India’s leadership in scientific innovation and vaccine manufacturing capability as the world works to end the COVID-19 pandemic.”

He attached an article (by Sangeeta Ojha) with the tweet which was about India and its vaccine manufacturing. The article was titled ‘India will soon start the world’s largest vaccination drive: PM Modi.’

In the article, it was mentioned that Modi said it must be ensured that ‘Made in India’ products not only have global demand but also global acceptance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “India is on the threshold of starting the largest vaccination program in the world.” These statements were given a day after India gave a green signal to the emergency use of two vaccines against COVID-19.

While addressing at the National Metrology Conclave via video conferencing, Modi said, “World’s biggest COVID-19 vaccination program set to begin in India. For this, the country is proud of the contributions of its scientists and technicians.

The prime minister of India, Narendra Damodardas Modi said, “quality is as much important as quantity, our standards should rise with scale in our quest for Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”

Besides, PM said, “The impact of any research is commercial, social and expands our understanding. Many times, other potential future uses of research can’t be estimated in advance, but it’s for sure that research is never wasted. Just as it’s said in our shastras that soul is immortal, so is research,”

Also, he said, “Indian scientists have been successful in coming up with two ‘made in India’ COVID-19 vaccines and the country is proud of its scientists.” India’s drugs regulator approved Oxford COVID-19 vaccine Covishield. It was manufactured by the serum institute and indigenously developed Covaxin of Bharat Biotech for restricted emergency use in the country.
