Earthquake in the Philippines today shakes the parts of Southern Philippines on Thursday night, January 21, 2021. According to the authorities that intensity was too strong and deep with no sign or warning of a tsunami. The depth and strong magnitude shook many areas of Southern Philippines today.

7.1 magnitude Earthquake in the Philippines today

According to the information of the U.S. Geological Survey, the recorded magnitude of the Philippines earthquake today was 7.0. And it was located 95.8 kilometers (60 miles) underneath the sea. Also, it was added that it was about 210 kilometers (130 miles) southeast of Pondaguitan in Davao Occidental province.

The strong magnitude and depth affected Indonesia and the Philippines the most. According to the records, the shakes started from 5:23 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2021. Coming towards the levels of intensity felt, CNN Philippines gave their information.

As reported by CNN Philippines, the shakes, or tremors with the intensity 5, a strong intensity, were felt in General Santos City. Tremors with an intensity of 4 were felt in Davao City, and Intensity 2 in Bislig, Surigao del Sur.

As stated by USGS, there was less or lowers the probability of mishaps and misfortunes because deep earthquake causes less damage. It is scientifically proved that the deeper the earthquake will be, the less will be the Earth’s surface damaged.
