Goldner’s death occurred two days after he took medical leave. The reason for death was not divulged, even though he revealed last year that he had been battling prostate cancer since 2014.
Interim CEO Rich Stoddart stated, “Since joining Hasbro more than two decades ago, Brian has been the heart and soul of the company. Brian’s work brings joy and laughter to children and families worldwide as a charismatic and passionate leader in the play and entertainment industries.
His imaginative leadership, friendliness, and generosity made him a cherished member of the Hasbro community and an inspiration to everyone he met. We send our profound sympathies to his wife, daughter, and the entire family on behalf of the Hasbro family.”
Goldner joined Hasbro in 2000 and has served as CEO and chairman since 2008 and 2015, respectively. He was also a producer on Hasbro’s live-action “G.I. Joe” and “Transformers” movies. Hasbro acquired Entertainment One for $3.8 billion in cash in 2019, acquiring franchises such as “Peppa Pig” and “P.J. Masks.”

Brian was immensely recognized and respected in the business. Brian Robbins, president and CEO of Paramount and Nickelodeon, also paid tribute to Goldner on Tuesday.

Brian was a great collaborator and partner on numerous cherished brand titles, including ‘G.I. He was a visionary leader in Hasbro’s transformation into a global content organization for Joe’s and Transformers. “He will be sadly missed,” added Robbins.
