Here are some highlights from the funeral of Prince Philips!

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh funeral took place on Saturday at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle where his wife, Elizabeth was sitting alone wearing black mask in great grief to goodbye her husband whom she lived 73 years of her life. She was in an abundant pain which can be seen through her gestures. The queen arrived in a car to chapel. The ceremony for late Prince Philip, who died last week at age 99,  has to be done carefully with the restriction due to covid-19 and all the safety rules has to be followed but also it was the funeral of royal family so it should be done with all the protocols.

Philip’s four children, Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward with his grandchildren, William and Harry walked in a somber procession behind his coffin as it was driven to the chapel. David Conner, dean of Windsor, who conducted the funeral service, spoke of the many ways in which his long life has been a blessing to them.

“We have been inspired by his unwavering loyalty to our queen, by his service to the nation and the Commonwealth, by his courage, fortitude and faith. Our lives have been enriched through the challenges that he has set us, the encouragement that he has given us, his kindness, humor and humanity.” He said.

According to the pandemic restrictions the funeral was made with the precautions therefore only 30 guests were allowed. The queen and her family followed all the safety rules and wore proper masks as well. The royal requested the people not to gather in the church or outside the castle and if they gathered they should adopt proper S.O.Ps due to the covid-19.

The funeral ceremony begins with the good notes on Philip’s life. How he devoted his life to the royal services and how he had served the military, everything was remembered. The duke of Edinburgh wanted his last place to be set according to his desires. So he designed his own hearse when he was alive. The vehicle was all like Prince Philips wanted as from tip to toe. His coffin was laid on it from Windsor castle to George’s chapel.

According to sources:

 The process of designing the hearse began 18 years ago, and tweaks were still being made up until 2019. The open-top rear section was custom-made to Philip’s specifications, and the original vehicle was repainted “dark bronze green,” typical of military use, at his request.

The funeral starts with the tribute to Philips where royal family honors military titles which were displaying as medals on their royal uniforms. Prince harry did not wore the badges as he had submitted the military medals while leaving the British house for stepping away the royal duties. As according to the tradition of British royal family they mourn silence for two minutes before starting the funeral rituals. Many of the royal marines and military were there who pay tribute to the late prince and carried his coffin to George’s chapel. The coffin was covered by the flag which is to give eulogy to the late prince.

It was very interesting to see the whole family together and how they played their dynamic roles respectively as the funeral will be the first time princes harry come back after the incident that he has stepped out of the house. He came after some weeks of leaving the house with his wife Meghan who had disclosed the problems she faced in royal family in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The funeral service lasted less than an hour. The choir sang some rhythms chosen by Prince Philip, but was some distance from the seated guests, in line with public health guidelines.

Two of the things were made done as it was the last wish of the prince Philip. First thing was in his funeral musicians played his favorite “Last Post” and the second thing was the task which military had to performed. All the flags in royal house were flown half-staff paying tribute to the prince until the next day which is Sunday.

Summery:  After the death of prince Philip the royal family was is great grief. On the April 17, 2021 on Saturday at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle funeral of prince Philip took place, where all the family members were seen with sorrowed faces. The funeral went as his body moved from its private chapel to hall of Windsor castle.
