Hugh Downs died at the age of 99

Hugh Downs an astounding broadcaster whose career broaden over more than a half-century has died at the age of 99.

According to the statement of his family, he died on Wednesday in his home in Scottsdale, Arizona.

He was married to Ruth Shaheen, she died in 2017. They had two children, Hugh Raymond, and Deirdre Downs. He said in an interview in 2002 I hope I’d be memorized as a man who tried to do some good and who was, most highly, straightforward. I can’t see any greatness that I would remember for, but if people think about me I’ll be happy at that.

Guinness record:

Downs become a familiar face during his bazillions of hours that he spends on television from 1950 to 1990. He worked with NBC’s today and tonight shows and game show and dozens of commercials. According to the associated press Downs held the Guinness record for most total hours he spends on television. His record was broke in 2004.

Downs a writer:

Down also wrote a number of books and also worked in radio, even though his first job was an announcer in Ohio. Then he moved to television and joined NBC. At NBC he met a writer whose name is Walters, who worked as a writer at today show.

Fame:

 His reputation grown with time and became famous. Down was hosting 20/20 in 1978 and he joined that show after 6 years. He retired from 20/20 in 1999. His retirement followed by televisions, news magazines.

Hugh Downs was a great patriot and he wrote a number of books on his love towards his country:

Downs started writing the book his famous book is My America, what my country means to me, and many more. He was a great patriot his patriotism clearly shows in their writings, he loved his country. After the 9/11 attacks, he wrote a book who illustrated 150 people who was a great patriot. He said; I want to gather some people’s visibility and way of life and difficulties and show to Americans, how Americans reacted on this. This might be interesting.
