FRAUD SCANDAL!!
The Russian Director Kirill Serebrennikov confirms that Moscow authorities have revoked his Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg theatre. The development came after the controversial stage, and the film producer was granted a three-year suspended sentence following an embezzlement conviction. Sergrennikov, 51, posted on his Instagram account a copy of a letter he got from the Moscow city cultural department, notifying that his contract would not be renewed.
“The Gogol Centre as a theatre and as an idea will live on,”
“Don’t be disheartened. In despair, neither life nor freedom is present,” he said, about a week after the reports first appeared.
One of Russia’s most acclaimed directors, Serebrennikov, rebranded the Gogol Centre in 2014, making it more successful and a top place on Moscow’s cultural map. He was charged with misappropriating the funds of two million dollars, which was the equivalent of fraud in amount. In June last year, a judge found him guilty and sentenced him to be fine three-year probation and a ban on managing cultural organizations.
The case of Director Roman Serebrennikov was criticized both in Russia and abroad, including by people such as Cate Blanchett and Ian McKellen.
On Tuesday, the Kremlin denied that Vladimir Putin had anything to do with the departure of the head of the Gogol Centre.
THIS IS NOT HIS FIRST TIME!

As Kirill Serebrennikov goes to trial in Moscow for suspected fraud, the release of his film “Leto” in Germany is a reminder of the value of the fight against corruption. The movie was made under prolonged house arrest and released in German cinemas on November 8 as the Russian Director’s fraud trial enters its second day. Serebrennikov dismissed embezzlement allegations in a Moscow court Wednesday, many of which equate to censorship.
The speaker was accused of misappropriating state funds for the cultural programs. However, many supporters claim that the Director’s prosecution is politically motivated and aimed at discouraging other Russian artists from speaking out. The country’s authorities consider the movie director a nuisance, and his house arrest has recently been extended. Serebrennikov could not be released from his apartment in Moscow until April 2019. He was not allowed to speak to someone outside the courtroom or to have contact with his parents. They blocked his internet access then as well.
