Revealing conversations

Tripp was a Pentagon employee when she met Monica Lewinsky, who had just been an intern at the White House.

In the course of the relationship, they became friends, and Lewinsky told her of his adventure with the President.

With that information, Tripp denounced Clinton for having an affair with the then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky before the special prosecutor’s office that investigated the president for the Whitewater real estate fiasco case, during his tenure as governor of Arkansas.

Tripp secretly taped the conversations in which Lewinsky recounted his love affair with Clinton and handed them over to special counsel Kenneth Starr.

She also mentioned the existence of a blue dress that Lewinsky wore during a sexual act, and that ended up stained with semen.

The relationship between the two was broken after Tripp informed Starr in exchange for immunity for having made a recording without authorization.

Monica Lewinsky Tweeted

However, on Wednesday, Lewinsky expressed concern on Twitter about his health. She posted this before Tripp’s death.

Monica Lewinsky said that no matter the past, upon hearing that Linda Tripp was very seriously ill, she hoped for her recovery. She could not imagine how difficult that was for her family.

After a political scandal that consumed the United States for months, the Senate ended by acquitting Clinton in January 1999 of the two charges he faced: lying under oath and obstructing justice.

Tripp was fired from the Pentagon in 2001 -at the end of the Clinton administration. And she retired to a Virginia town where she ran a Christmas grocery store.
