Actor Sara Ali Khan loves his grandmother, father and mother the most. She has said that in her opinion, her grandmother Sharmila Tagore is ‘the first star’. Sara said that she often finds herself in disbelief that she’s related to such an illustrious personality.

Sara said that she considers herself to be lucky to have a grandmother like Sharmila. “She is very warm. She is amazing. She epitomizes dignity and grace. And she’s also an extremely maternal and loving grandmother,” Sara said.

She told “If I watch Aradhana, and Mere Sapno ki Rani, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, that’s my dadi!’ Like, are you serious? Because she’s just superb, you know, she’s a star. I think she’s the first star in my opinion. So sometimes it’s almost confusing for me, like, really that lady is my grandmother! You know, it’s weird. It is very strange. But, I mean, she’s amazing. And I’m very lucky to have her in my life.”hile the beauty won major fashion points on the red carpet and even made it to the best-dressed list, it was her big performance on the Filmfare stage that truly bowled everyone over.

Sara Ali Khan shared that being on her first film Kedarnath’s set helped her realise the true meaning of acting. “I think that’s when I truly realised what acting meant. The hard work, the dedication, all of it,” she said.

And it’s thus not surprising that it’s not just films that connect the Simmba actor to her father Saif Ali Khan. Sara, who graduated from Columbia University in history and political science, shared that both she and Saif love history and read up a lot. Going down the memory lane, she spoke about an earlier vacation in Italy where they spoke about Hitler and Stalin more than Bollywood.

“I remember this vacation with him in Italy, which was all about pizza, pasta, culture, museums, music and plays. This is something my father and I really, really enjoy. We both are history nerds, and we laugh about the fact that we discuss Hitler and Stalin more than films and Bollywood,” the star child was quoted.

The Coolie No 1 star is loved for her reliability and Sara feels it’s her ‘simple, desi girl at heart’ attitude that does the trick. The actor, without making a bone of not running after brands told the magazine, “I am truly a simple, desi girl at heart. Maybe that’s what people relate with. I don’t like spending a lot of money. I am not brand conscious at all. I am happier in my salwar kameez from Sarojini Nagar and jhutis than in brands that cost more than my monthly income.”

Sara revealed that veteran actress Amrita Singh’s opinion is of great importance to her. “I live with my mother and I’m very, very influenced by everything that she says, so her opinion matters the most to me. But the irony is that her opinion is always to me that ultimately the audience’s and then the media, or the people that you have to worry about. Mai tumhari maa hun, tum jo bhi karogi mujhe accha lagega. Audience ko tumhe pasand karna important hai, media ko tumhe pasand karna important hai. So if the answer to your question is that, you know, my mom’s opinion matters, but my mom’s opinion is that the audience’s opinion should matter. So that’s the ironic but true answer.”

Khan further told the magazine about her idea of ‘acting’ while growing up. “People would expect that I’d know things –being a star kid and coming from a filmi background. But on each set, I’ve learnt new things. When I was a four-year-old acting only meant dancing on Kaanta Laga and when I was a teenager, I wanted to be Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. On the sets of Kedarnath, I didn’t even know that sometimes one shot has to be taken several times.”

The Filmfare Award winner got groovy to chartbusters like ‘Shayad’, ‘Twist’, ‘Husn Hai Suhaana’, ‘Aankh Maarey’, ‘Mera Wala Dance’ and ‘Mirchi’.
