Pakistan: According to well-informed sources, senior journalist Imran Riaz Khan has been arrested from Islamabad Toll Plaza.
A contingent of Rangers and police took custody of the journalist, according to details. Imran Riaz Khan’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaque, told ARY News that his client was taken into custody from the Islamabad Toll Plaza.
According to him, Imran Riaz Khan cannot be taken into custody in accordance with the clear directions of the Islamabad High Court.
Currently, 30 FIRs have been registered against Imran Riaz Khan, in which the Islamabad High Court has granted him bail.
Muzaffargarh and Sargodha were among the cities in which FIRs were filed against journalists earlier.
It was alleged that the anchor’s actions offended Pakistani citizens’ feelings, which was a serious crime and a violation of the Constitution.
Imran Riaz Khan Arrested
Media reports indicate that Pakistani police arrested senior journalist and TV anchor Imran Riaz Khan on Tuesday, who is a vocal critic of the Pakistani establishment and the government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Imran Riaz was transferred to the Attock police station following the filing of an FIR against him.
Imran Riaz Khan stated in his video statement before his arrest, “I was arrested at Islamabad Toll Plaza while coming to Islamabad for bail, and the Chief Justice had ordered me not to be arrested.”
Malik Ahmad Khan, Provincial Law Minister, however, says Imran Riaz Khan was arrested from Attock and Rawalpindi divisions, and that he was wrongly arrested from Islamabad. According to him, he has been charged in Punjab.
