Adan Canto, a renowned actor recognized for his roles in prominent US television series such as Designated Survivor and notable films like X-Men: Days of Future Past, has passed away at the age of 42.
The talented Mexican actor succumbed to appendiceal cancer, as confirmed by his spokesperson.
In Designated Survivor, Canto portrayed the character of the national security adviser alongside Kiefer Sutherland, who fondly remembered him as “such a wonderful spirit.”
The entertainment industry mourns the loss of Adan Canto, remembering him for his impactful contributions and the indelible mark he left on both television and cinema.
The actress and director expressed on Instagram: “Finding the words is difficult right now… but my cherished friend Adan has just earned his wings. He will always have a special spot in my heart.
Stephanie Ann, Canto’s wife, shared a picture of the couple along with a Bible passage, adding, “Adan, you are my eternal treasure. Until we meet again.”
In an official statement, publicist Jennifer Allen remarked, “Adan possessed a profound spirit that only a few truly understood. Those who caught a glimpse were forever changed. Many will keenly feel his absence.
In his heartfelt message, Sutherland remarked, “As an actor, Adan’s unwavering commitment to excellence, the pursuit of greatness, and continuous self-improvement were truly remarkable. His absence will be deeply felt. My condolences go out to his wife, Steph, and their two young children. Adan, may you find eternal peace.”
Canto portrayed Aaron Shore in Designated Survivor, initially airing on ABC in 2016-17, later picked up by Netflix for a concluding third season.

Canto later took on the role of gangster Arman Morales in Fox’s 2022 crime drama, The Cleaning Lady.

Canto marked his breakthrough in the US through the Fox thriller The Following alongside Kevin Bacon in 2013, and he graced the screens in the ABC sitcom Mixology and the drama Blood & Oil.
His notable roles extended to portraying Colombian politician Rodrigo Lara Bonilla in Netflix’s Narcos, and he added to his film credits with the spy thriller Agent Game in 2022.
